How to create a football player profile

A player profile is a screening document, not a personal statement. Its job is to let a coach decide in ninety seconds whether to watch your film. This guide covers exactly what to put in it, in what order, and what to cut.

The facts, in order

Lead with what a coach filters on, then support it. Anything a coach cannot act on belongs lower down or not at all.

Numbers should be verifiable and recent. One inflated measurable undermines every other line on the page.

  • Position, secondary position, preferred foot, age group
  • Height, weight and any measurables you can back up
  • Current club, level, appearances and minutes this season
  • Film: best clip first, four minutes maximum
  • Location, travel radius and availability
  • One short line on the move you are looking for

What to leave out

Cut adjectives, cut comparisons to professionals, cut anything unverifiable. They add length and subtract credibility.

Keep personal contact details off the public page, especially for under-18s. Use in-platform messaging so approaches are recorded.

Keeping it alive

A profile last touched eight months ago reads as a player who has stopped. Update minutes and results monthly and swap in better film as you get it.

Post occasionally as well — a result, a return from injury, a new personal best. Activity is what brings people back to the profile.

Should I include stats from years ago?

Only if they add context, and always dated. Current-season minutes matter far more than an old highlight season.
