Roughly 88–92+ mph for D1, 85–88 for D2, and 80–85 for D3, though command and secondary pitches move those numbers. A left-hander with plus command is often recruited below the velocity band.
When does college baseball recruiting start?
Under current NCAA D1 rules, most contact opens August 1 before junior year. Building tracked numbers and video in 9th and 10th grade is what makes those first conversations productive.
